Thanksgiving and Christmas are holidays that celebrate the love and joy we have been blessed with in our lives. It is also a time we can give back to others. Around this time of the year, Christmas “Giving Trees” are displayed, usually in churches and schools, as a way to bring the Christmas spirit into a child’s life.
My sister, who lost her twin daughter a couple of years ago, uses these “Giving Trees” as a way to honor her baby. It is very special, and a way for her and our family to heal. It brings us joy to know that we are being “Santa” for a child in need. This year, we selected four children to give gifts to. We have two boys who want Paw Patrol and dinosaurs, and then two girls who would like Disney dolls, one specifically asking for an Elena of Avalor doll.
I am excited to go shopping for these toys, and I will be wrapping them in my best Christmas wrapping paper. Though I will not be able to see their faces when they open their gifts, it still warms my heart and makes me smile.
Christmas is a time for spreading love and cheer to others. If you are looking for a way to give back this holiday season, I think these “Giving Trees” are the perfect way to spread the Christmas spirit! Keep a lookout for one in your area!
