Light Up UCF features an outdoor holiday celebration with thousands of Christmas lights, an outdoor ice skating rink, and lots of other fun activities. The event is held every Christmas season on-campus at the University of Central Florida, right in front of the CFE Arena. This was our first time visiting Light Up UCF, and it was a great idea for simple, local family fun!
Parking and entrance into Light Up UCF is free, as well as the outdoor films and holiday light show. We went on a weekday during finals week, and it was not busy at all.
Tickets to the attractions can be purchased online. Paid attractions include ice skating, the ice slide, the ferris wheel, and carriage rides. Oh, and it even snows!
Here are the highlights from our visit to Light Up UCF:
Thousands of Christmas Lights
This event is called Light Up UCF for a reason! All the palm trees and the front wall of the CFE Arena are decorated in bright, twinkling lights that change color. It truly is a beautiful sight to see.
Lots of Photo Opportunities
In addition to the colorful lights, there are lots of opportunities to take photos. They have spots to take pictures with some cute penguins and even the Coca Cola polar bears!
Probably the coolest part of the evening was the special appearance by a couple of reindeer! They were only there for a couple of hours and then had to go back home to the North Pole. 😉
Next time, I want to go on a Friday or Saturday so that I can watch one of the outdoor movies! I am hoping I can come back again sometime this year. If not, we definitely will be back next year!
