Orlando City Foundation, part of the Orlando City Soccer Club, is a nonprofit organization committed to bringing soccer and a healthy food choices to underprivileged children in the Central Florida area. Last night, the Orlando City Foundation hosted “Purple Pops” to thank Orlando City’s sponsors and fans for their support.
Gift baskets with items signed by Orlando City and Orlando Pride players were being auctioned off, starting at $50.
These gift baskets included soccer balls signed by goalkeeper, Joe Bendik, and a pair of soccer cleats signed by midfielder, Antonio Nocerino. The silent auction was a success, as some items sold for over $300.
The highlight of the event was the symphony, featuring the music of the Villages Philharmonic Orchestra, a 60-piece ensemble.
They played music from the Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables, as well as a 28-minute Gershwin piece. The show also showcased opera singers and other soloists.
Orlando City Foundation also raffled off numerous items. Though I did not win anything, my family and I had a lovely evening at Orlando City Foundation’s “Purple Pops” event!
Orlando City Foundation continues to remain active throughout the Central Florida community. The next scheduled event is Soccer Ball 2018, to be held on February 23rd at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando.
